Show & Tell Tuesday

Show & Tell Tuesday

It has been a VERY long time since I've done a "Show & Tell" post. I have recently been able to organize my quilts so now I know which ones I still want to talk about.

The quilts I am showing today have been displayed on the Quilty Pleasures Quilts page for a while but now I want to elaborate on them.

My First Quilt

I remember it like it was yesterday; that summer day in 2007 when my DH encouraged me to take my first quilt class.  We entered the
Stony Brook Sew and Vac Store then located in Hamilton, NJ.
At his urging I signed up for a beginning quilting class with Pat O'Brien and set about choosing my fabric.  I remember with amusement how I fretted over that fabric choice.  The pattern was the simple nine-patch shown above but you would think I was buying fabric for a king-sized quilt to be displayed at Peducah.

It took me five weekly classes to learn the basics of quilt making and I have not looked back.  Although I don't think Pat teaches quilt classes anymore, I think of her often when I am quilting and thank her for helping me fall in love with this beautiful art.

This quilt measures 37" by 47".  I used 5 different fabrics and started my STASH with the leftovers.  I made a few other quilts from this pattern before I was ready to venture out and try another one...again with Pat O'Brien leading the way.

April Rag Quilt

This is another of my monthly rag quilts on which I have been working.

It measures 20" X 20".  I have now finished rag quilts for January through June.  I've gathered my homespun fabric for July but I don't have plans in the near future to work on that quilt.

Well, that is my first Show & Tell post since September 2012.  I hope to share my finished quilts on Quilty Pleasures more often now that I have a more organized plan.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!
