Show & Tell Tuesday - Borderline Crazy

Show & Tell Tuesday

Borderline Crazy

Borderline Crazy was completed in the fall of 2016.
This is the only Halloween quilt I have finished to date.
I have another Halloween quilt in the works, but it is not close to being done.

Last Halloween this little guy had not yet been born.

Borderline Crazy measures approximately 52" x 62".

I made it from a jelly roll of Halloween fabric and a constant green background fabric.

Last Halloween Ryder and Logan took turns sleeping with Borderline Crazy on their beds when they lived with us.

This Halloween little Jace gets to use it as a play mat in his new house.

I used this black star backing fabric.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Show & Tell Tuesday - Ryder's Big Boy Quilt

Show & Tell Tuesday

Ryder's Big Boy Quilt

Three or four years ago my DDIL, Heather, asked me to make a quilt for my DGS Ryder as he moved into his big boy bed from his crib.

She showed me this picture of a quilt from
Pottery Barn as inspiration.

I agreed to the challenge and chose these fabrics to use.  I arranged and then rearranged until I came up with a design that I thought was pleasing.

Then I started scouring the internet looking
 for appliqué ideas.

Now it was time to arrange these appliqué ideas in a way that looked balanced.

Working on the individual blocks was very rewarding.  I had to choose just the right fabrics for each block.

I used my living room floor to lay the blocks out to see if I needed to switch any of them around.

All the blocks have been sewn together.
Hmmmm...what about borders?

I decided to add red, white & blue borders similar to the inspiration photo.

A background fabric and batting was chosen and I proceeded to quilt.
I love this Dallas Cowboy inspired helmet block!

A bias binding was added by machine and then...
it was hand sewn to the back of the quilt.

This is the completed quilt back on the living room floor.

Ryder LOVES his quilt!

WOW - he was so small when I gave him this quilt!

I made three matching pillow shams for him.

This is how Ryder's quilt looks now in his new bedroom.

Since I made this quilt, I have also made a quilt for Ryder's brother, Logan.  I will share Logan's quilt in another Show & Tell Tuesday Post.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Awesome Adventures with Ryder, Logan & Jace - September 2017

Awesome Adventures with
 Ryder, Logan & Jace

September 2017

September is the time of endings and beginnings.  The BOYZ said good-bye to summer with one last trip to Delaware to visit with their
maternal grandparents, Ellen & Ron.  While there,
 they enjoyed hiking...

arcade play...

and fishing...

When their vacation was over it was time to come home and get new haircuts for the beginning of school.

Ryder started Kindergarten at his new school.

He took his first school bus ride...

Logan enjoyed driving the Ninja car to the bus stop.

Jace kept busy while Ryder was at school by exploring his environment.

Kindergarten is only a half day, and Ryder is no longer taking naps, so he needed something to keep him busy in the afternoon while his younger brothers are napping.

Ryder and I built a rolling cart of drawers to hold activities for him to do after lunch.

Every day, when Logan and Jace go in for their naps, Ryder works on a variety of activities his mom, Heather, has chosen for him.  He really enjoys his activity time each weekday.

Our little Jace continues to thrive by taking in all that life has to offer a 7 month old...

The weather has been really beautiful so we have enjoyed many days of playing outside...

Ryder is learning so many new things now that he is five.

He can now tie a bow...
and he is learning to play the piano...

Learning so many new things can make a five year old very tired...even if he no longer takes naps...
or does he?

The month of September came to an end with a surprise visit from Aunt Katie at soccer practice.

September ...  Can we restart summer???

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!
