Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

This is going to be short and sweet this week because I am still recuperating from my weekend in Hershey.  When I got home from my trip I had to go to my husband, Don's baseball game.  They won the game and they are now on to the final eight tournament in the state of NJ.  And today is his birthday!  So, needless to say, I haven't put much thought into this post but here goes....

The Week of July 23, 2012
(in review)

1. Complete the Cotton Candy quilt top I started this week.  I didn't get this done but it is close.

2. Complete the Sage Green and Cream quilt top and prepare it for quilting next week.  The quilt top is done and ready to be quilted.

3. Finish quilting the 2011 PQW Saturday Sampler quilt that is currently on Annie (my long arm machine.)

It is done and sooooo pretty!

4. Attend Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, PA.  What an amazing time I had meeting Bonnie K. Hunter and taking classes from her.  Here are pictures of me with her in front of the two quilts we worked on.

She is an incredible teacher and such a nice person.  I will try to include a lot more pictures on Wednesday for Wordless Wednesday.

The Week of July 30, 2012

1.  Complete piecing "Cotton Candy" and prepare it for quilting.

2.  Quilt the Sage Green and Cream quilt I am making for my neighbor's wedding shower.  I will post pictures after I have given her the quilt.  I don't want to spoil the surprise.

3.  Organize all my goodies from Quilt Odyssey especially the two quilt projects I started with Bonnie.

4.  Spend time with sweet baby Ryder.

I'm trying not to over plan this week because I have a feeling we might be spending a lot of time on baseball fields.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Hershey...Here I Come!

Hershey...Here I come!

Quilt Odyssey is finally here.  To say I am excited is an understatement!

I leave tomorrow morning very early for the 2 1/2 hour drive to Hershey, PA.  My first stop will be the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.

I've been to this convention center many times for Quilt Odyssey but this will be the first time I will get to stay there.

After checking in I will be off to the show.  My first stop will be the Vendor Mall.  I always like to go through the vendor mall twice.  The first time I just get a general feel for what vendors are there and what they have to offer.  The second time I make my purchases.  I don't have a lot of "must buys" this year.  I definitely need to replenish my supply of So Fine and Bottom Line thread by Superior Threads.  Other than that I'm sure I will be looking for lots of great ideas for baby quilts for sweet Ryder.

Ryder looks like he just had a bath.  All clean!!!

For lunch on Friday I will attend a lecture with Bonnie K. Hunter on her Scrap User's System.

After lunch I will do my second trip around the vendor mall.  This is usually when I do some serious buying...haha.  For "dessert" I plan on going to the exhibition area to view all the quilts.  I will be sure to take lots of pictures.

Saturday and Sunday will be filled with two classes, again taught by Bonnie.  The Saturday class is called Tumalo Trails.

The Sunday class is called Smith Mountain Morning.

If time permits, I want to spend a little time at Chocolate World.

Who am I fooling?  I will be sure to make time for Chocolate World!!

I have all the prep work done.  My sewing machine, Vicki, is repaired and ready to go.  All my supplies are gathered and I even downloaded Fifty Shades of Grey on my Ipad.

Quilt Odyssey is finally here.  To say I am excited is an understatement!

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

The week of July 16, 2012
(in review)

1. Celebrate my daughter's 24th birthday.  Can she really be 24 years old?
We had a very small celebration for my daughter, Shea, before she headed out to celebrate at the Yankee game.

My son, Kyle, got Shea and her three friends pretty good seats, wouldn't you say?

2. Work on the Leader/Ender project I am doing for my neighbor's wedding shower. This quilt is done in sage green and cream. It should be so pretty.  I got the pattern from the book Miss Rosie's Spice of Life Quilts.

I am currently working on the borders.  It is coming together so nicely.

3. Try once again to work on "Cotton Candy," one of the 2011 NJ Shop Hop Quilts.

I am doing my quilt much like the one on the pattern cover...in pinks and white.

4. Attend "Strip Club" at The Village Quilter in Mt. Holly, NJ.

The pattern this month is a free pattern from Moda Bake Shop.  It is called Uncle Sam's Quilt by Andie Johnson.

5. Try once again to work on the Craftsy Block of the Month.

I still did not get to this.  I am going to revisit this another time.

6. Complete the binding on Ryder's "Good Wishes" quilt and give it to him.

Ryder received his quilt last Tuesday.  Of course he is too young to appreciate it now but I'm sure he will someday.

Now on to this week.....

The Week of July 23, 2012

1.  Complete the Cotton Candy quilt top I started this week.

2.  Complete the Sage Green and Cream quilt top and prepare it for quilting next week.

3.  Finish quilting the 2011 PQW Saturday Sampler quilt that is currently on Annie (my long arm machine.)

4.  Attend Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, PA.  I am so excited to go to Quilt Odyssey this year because I will be taking two classes with Bonnie K. Hunter and a lunch lecture.  I have done all my prep work and I am ready to go.
All I need to do is pick up my sewing machine from the repair shop.  I took her in over a week ago for a tune-up and they discovered she needed a part.  I sure hope she is ready by this weekend.  If not, I will have to make other arrangements for my classes with Bonnie.

I'm not sure if I will get to the first three things on my list since I will be gone for three days.  We will see....
Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List Monday

The Week of July 2, 2012
(in review)

1.  Make a Split Rail Cuddle Quilt for little Ryder.

Okay...any excuse to post a picture of sweet Ryder.

Ryder should have been born in the winter for all the blankets I am making for him!

2.  Work on my July blocks for the Quilt Square Quilt Along sponsored by Jo's Country Junction.

These blocks are very pretty.  Thanks for the pattern Lori Smith.

3.   Start a new quilt called "Cotton Candy" which is a 2011 NJ Shop Hop quilt.  I did not get to work on this quilt this week.

4.  Choose just the right backing for Ryder's "Good Wishes" quilt and begin the quilting process.  I ordered the backing from Fabric Depot in Oregon.  Now I am washing it for shrinkage and dye bleeding.

5.  Go to lunch with my Dear Friend, Karen, who will be visiting from Indiana.  Karen and I had a wonderful lunch together.  We have been friends for almost forty years and no matter how long we are apart, it is as if we were together just yesterday.  Now she is off to the beach for two weeks.  ENJOY!

6.  Start preparations for the two classes I will take with Bonnie K. Hunter  in Hershey later this month.

Smith Mountain Morning

The prep work for these two quilts took two days.  Tumalo Trail will be completely scrappy.  Smith Mountain Morning will be done controlled scrappy in Red, White and Blue.  I'm so excited to meet Bonnie K. Hunter and take these two classes and a lunch lecture with her later in the month.

The Week of July 9, 2012

1.  Quilt Ryder's "Good Wishes" quilt.  I should be able to load the quilt on Wednesday and begin quilting. Yippee!!

2.  Attend Quilts for Kids at PQW.  I will deliver my four quilts and start to work on a few more.  This is such a wonderful charity and I fully support it.

3.  Begin working on "Cotton Candy,"  one of the 2011 NJ Shop Hop quilts.

4.  Attend Saturday Sampler at PQW.

These are the blocks I did for June.

5.  Continue to work on my three Leader/Ender projects.

6.  Catch up on my Craftsy Blocks of the Month.  I am a few months behind on this project and I probably won't get to it this week but hopefully I will.

Show & Tell Tuesday

Show & Tell Tuesday

Happy Independence Day!!!

I have two patriotic quilts to share today.

American Heritage

I made American Heritage in 2010.  It was a Block of the Month quilt.

It was designed by Bits 'n Pieces in Wayne, MI.

The finished quilt measures 89" x 104".  I love to put this quilt on my bed for the month of July.

Stars and Stripes

Stars and Stripes is a small table topper that I made in 2008.

I made it from a kit.  This quilt is on my kitchen table for the month of July.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at these patriotic quilts.  I am soooo excited to spend July 4th with Kyle, Heather and sweet baby Ryder.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

The Week of June 25, 2012
(in review)

1.  Work on PQW Saturday Sampler blocks for June.

These blocks are very pretty!

2.  Complete the quilting and binding on the Quilts for Kids quilts I am doing for this month.

This is one of the four quilts.  It is so colorful!

3.  Continue working on Ryder's "Good Wishes" quilt.

The top is complete.  There are a total of 42 blocks.  I did a piano key border in a variety of blue fabric.  As soon as I find the perfect backing fabric I will begin to quilt it.  Since I do not want to quilt over the blocks I will have to do a lot of stitch in the ditch instead of an all over pattern.

4.  Start the prep work on another "Good Wishes" quilt for a friend.

This is the fabric I chose.

These are the blocks ready to be signed.

This quilt will be for a little girl's first birthday.  It should be very colorful.

5.  Continue working on three Leader/Ender projects.  I have made some progress on these projects but no completions to report.

6.  Celebrate my 31st Wedding Anniversary with my wonderful husband, Don.  We had a wonderful day together.  It is the only day during the summer that my husband promises not to schedule a baseball game or practice.  We had a wonderful lunch and dinner out.  Heaven!!

The Week of July 2, 2012

1.  Make a Split Rail Cuddle Quilt for little Ryder.

2.  Work on my July blocks for the Quilt Square Quilt Along sponsored by Jo's Country Junction.

3.   Start a new quilt called "Cotton Candy" which is a 2011 NJ Shop Hop quilt.

4.  Choose just the right backing for Ryder's "Good Wishes" quilt and begin the quilting process.

5.  Go to lunch with my Dear Friend, Karen, who will be visiting from Indiana.  Karen has been dealing with some serious health issues and I can't wait to see her.  She is my HERO!

6.  Start preparations for the two classes I will take with Bonnie K. Hunter  in Hershey later this month.  I really need to get started on this.  I keep putting it on the list and it never seems to get done.  UGH!

That's it for this week.  I hope everyone has a wonderful July 4th!

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!
