Show & Tell Tuesday

Show & Tell Tuesday

Today I have two quilts to share.  The first is one of my more ambitious quilts from 2008 since I had only been quilting for a short time.  The second was another mystery quilt that I so love to make.

Dizzy Geese

Dizzy Geese is a quilt designed by Joan K. Streck of Overland Park, Kansas.  This quilt measures 74" x 93".  It consists of 12 blocks each measuring 17"x17".  I love how the pieced sashing creates a small star between blocks.  The flying geese theme is carried out into the pieced border as well.

I made this quilt completely scrappy.  I also love the plaid binding.  The pattern for this quilt can be found in the book Big Book of Scrap Quilts...compiled and edited by L. Amanda Owens and Patricia Wilens.

The second quilt is a mystery quilt by Quiltmaker magazine.

Secret Window

Secret Window is a quilt designed by Debbie Caffrey from Albuquerque, New Mexico.  It is made of  63 blocks.

The finished quilt measures 56" x 68".   I love the pattern but I'm not that fond of the color combination I chose.  When making a mystery quilt you don't know how the final quilt will look.  If I had known the pattern I'm sure I would have picked different fabric.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

  4. The first person who "admires" Secret Window should perhaps have the quilt - determines the recipient sometimes. My last mystery quilt was donated for a raffle. I love Dizzy Geese a lot. Good work! Judy C

  6. Your quilts are amazing. I can't believe that you have only been quilting for a short time. I love how you have labeled each quilt. When I first started quilting, I did not label my quilts (because I did not know to).

    1. Doni,

I've grown up in this town and attended the high school 35 years ago (EEEEEK!) The Allentown Quilt Barn is now run by a new owner who renamed it The Quilter's Cottage. Unfortunately it suffered a lot of damage from flooding from a hurricane back in August. They should be reopening soon.
