Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

The Week of May 6th
(in review)

1.  Complete DMIL's Mother's Day Gift.

 Serene Strips

I made this pretty bed runner for my DMIL.  I used a jelly roll called Summer Breeze II by Moda.

The pattern came from the book
Bed Runners - Using Precut Fabrics
 by Kathy Brown.
By altering the pattern slightly I was able to make two bed runners from one jelly roll and some border fabric.

This is such a pretty addition to a bed for the spring and summer seasons.

2.  Complete two Dear Jane triangles.

These two triangles will be on the bottom row of the quilt, 11th and 12th from the left.

Currently my Dear Jane numbers are:

Blocks       152
Triangles     38
Corners        0
Pieces      4001

3.  Work on my Mystery Quilt by Heather Spence Designs.

So far I have completed the first two clues.  A new clue comes out every Friday.  The concept is simple. Twice a year, in the spring and again in the fall, Heather presents a mystery quilt.  She charges $10 to participate.  All money raised will go to a cancer patient who needs financial help with his/her medical bills.

I know it is hard to tell because the picture is dark, but the colors are dark sage green and purple...not black.

4.  Do a few Just Takes 2  quilt blocks.

I'm pleased with the way these blocks look.  I paper-pieced the flying Geese and the square in a square.  The feathered star was difficult because it contains some partial seams.

5.  Work on The Pennington Quilt Works Saturday Sampler from 2011.

I am doing the Home and Ocean colorways in the full size (91" x 104") The pattern is called Wedding Bands by Judy Martin. Much to my dismay, when I pulled these quilts out to work on them I realized I have quite a bit of work ahead of me.  I have the 24 (12 1/2") squares done.  Now I am working on 116 (6 1/2") Sawtooth Stars.  UGH!  Each star consists of 4 flying geese.  That is a total of 464 flying geese.  Double UGH!  I am using Deb Tucker's Wing Clipper so even though I will have perfect flying geese when I am done...each one needs to be trimmed.  I have most of these geese sewn and pressed.  I have none of them trimmed.  Once I get all the geese done I can start making my Sawtooth Stars as a leader/ender project.

 6.  Work on the NJ Shop Hop quilt as a leader/ender project.  I am currently making a lot of HST's and 4-patches.

The Week of May 14, 2012

1.  Work on The Village Quilter BOM Appamattox & Building Blocks.

2.  Work on the next clue of Heather Spence's Mystery Quilt.

3.  Continue to work on the NJ Shop Hop quilt and The Pennington Quilt Works 2011 Saturday Sampler as Leader/Ender  projects.

4. Make a cuddle quilt for Baby Boy Hutchinson.

5.  Work on Kindred Quilts 2011 Saturday Sampler.  The pattern used for this BOM is Grandmother's Sampler by Lori Smith.  It was offered in four colorways.  I chose the winter colorway which uses a lot of greens, reds and tans.

All Blocks are complete for this quilt.  All I need to do is add sashing and borders for the top to be complete.

All these things should keep me very busy.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!
