Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

The Week of October 15, 2012

(in review)

1. Knit and crochet some hats for my sweet little Ryder.

This is Mommy Heather holding Ryder in his new pumpkin hat and pumpkin shirt.

This is Auntie Shea holding Ryder in his new Dallas Cowboy helmet hat.

Adorable!

2. Finish quilting Ryder's quilt on Annie.  Ryder's quilt is done.  I am now working on the binding.  It should be done by this weekend.

3. Work on the Fall Mystery Quilt with Heather Spence.

The name of this quilt is "Jack of Hearts."  I am using my brilliant reasoning to determine that these blocks will be hearts. haha!

I have not completed the step that we received on Friday.  I should get to it this week.

4. Make some embroidered pillow cases. I was able to make and embroider four very pretty pillowcases.  They will be Christmas presents so I can't post pictures.  Maybe after Christmas I will post pictures of all the gifts I have made.

5. Attend class at The Village Quilter in Mt. Holly, NJ.

This is the beginning of the folded table mat I started in class.  There are still two more rounds of folded fabric triangles and then the backing and binding to be done.  This table mat should look pretty in my family room.

6. Work on the 2009 (yes, I said 2009!) Patchwork Party quilt.

Here are three of the twelve blocks.

All blocks are done.  Now I am working on the finishing kit.  I got my finishing kit from Shabby Fabrics.  I love the design of the finishing kit but unfortunately I have already found a few mistakes.  Generally when I find mistakes in a pattern I like to contact the designer to let her know so that she can make corrections.  But how do you contact a designer for a quilt 3 years old?  I guess it is too late and I will just have to figure it out on my own.

7. Celebrate my DDIL Heather's birthday.

After a slight detour to The Cheesecake Factory (long story) we ended up at Olive Garden.  We had a very nice private room and it was a lovely celebration.

Here is the birthday girl with my DS, Kyle.

Ryder looks as if he wants some wine.
Sorry Sweetie,  you have to wait a few or 21 years!

My wonderful children surprised me with a birthday celebration of my own on Sunday.  My birthday is actually today, Monday, but they all came over on Sunday and we had a wonderful time together.

This is my DS JT.  He was happy to be home and to see Ryder whom he had not seen in a while.  I am especially grateful to him for helping me do some work on the computer and my embroidery machine.

The Week of October 22, 2012

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

I get to spend my birthday with my favorite 4 month old.
Today I start my Ryder Time as DDIL Heather goes back to work part time as a speech therapist.  I know this is a hard day for Heather but I am very excited to be able to spend one or two days a week with my DGS Ryder.

1.  Redesign and complete piecing the 2009 Patchwork Party quilt that I have been working on.  Hopefully I will be able to fix the problems with the pattern and get the top pieced.

2.  Finish the quilt I am binding for Ryder and another project I am working on for his Christening.

3.  Continue working on the Heather Spence Mystery Quilt.

4.  Complete the folded fabric table mat I started in class last week.

This is a picture on the pattern.  Hopefully mine will look as good when it is done.

5.  Attend Strip Club at The Village Quilter in Mt. Holly, NJ.

These are the strips we will use.  The quilt design is a secret until we get to class.

6.  Embroider some more Christmas Presents.  Shhhhh!  Top Secret!!!

7.  Design an English Paper Pieced Hexagon quilt.

I love the hexagon quilt that Bonnie Hunter designed.  I want to design and piece a hexagon quilt similar to hers.  I don't think mine will be quite so elaborate but I hope to make one at least a full-bed size.  Bonnie Hunter took approximately thirteen years to complete her Hexie quilt.  I hope I can get mine done much quicker than that.

8.  If time, I will begin working on a fall wreath table topper using the Little Twister Tool.

It should look something like this except in fall colors when it is done.

I have a VERY busy week ahead and I strongly doubt I will achieve everything on my list.  But as they say...If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.  So this is my plan for the week.

Until Next Time...Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

The Week of October 8, 2012
(in review)

1.  Finish the "Candy Dish" pillow I started in the class at The Village Quilter with Julie Herman.

I chose to make my pillows in "fall" colors.  These pillows will be a Christmas present.

2.  Finish the borders on the 2011 PQW Saturday Sampler Quilt.
The quilt is pieced and ready to be quilted.

3.  Attend PQW Saturday Sampler class.
This month we are doing the 9th of 12 blocks.

4.  Attend Brother & Baby Lock Embroidery Club at Byrne Sewing Connection in Doylestown, PA.  I was able to do some more embroidery at the club session.  We made pillow cases using a shadow technique.  When I got home I embroidered a cuddle blanket for Ryder that I had made.

I definitely have a lot to learn.

5.  Go out to dinner with some friends.
The timing of our dinner was not the best.  It was right in the middle of the Yankee game.  So it was imperative that we go to a restaurant with a television.  We went to City Streets in East Windsor.  We enjoyed good food and good company.  Unfortunately we did not enjoy a Yankee win.  :(

6.  Work on my Christmas quilt for Quilts for Kids.
My quilt is pieced and pinned.  I have decided not to quilt it on Annie because I have such a back-up with quilts I need to do.  So I will quilt it with my DSM when I attend our group in November.

7.  Finish a quilt on Annie for little Ryder.  I have made progress on Ryder's quilt but it is not done yet.

The Week of October 15, 2012

1.  Knit and crochet some hats for my sweet little Ryder.  The weather is starting to get a little cooler so it is now time to make some warm accessories for Ryder.

2.  Finish quilting Ryder's quilt on Annie.  I will try again to get this quilt done.

3.  Work on the fall mystery quilt with Heather Spence.

4.  Make some embroidered pillow cases.  More Christmas presents.....

5.  Attend class at The Village Quilter in Mt. Holly, NJ.  In the class I am taking I will learn to make folded table mats.  Could these be more Christmas presents?  Probably!

6.  Work on the 2009 (yes, I said 2009!) Patchwork Party quilt.  I have definitely been procrastinating about finishing this quilt.
It is time that I "get 'er done"!

7.  Celebrate my DDIL Heather's birthday.

I know I have over planned this week.  Wish me luck!!

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

I had a very pleasant day with my DS Kyle, my DDIL Heather, and my DGS Ryder.  We met Kyle at Yankee Stadium for lunch.  We ate in the Hard Rock Cafe then walked around the stadium for a little while.

There was a lot of preparation going on in anticipation of the game there against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday Night.

The Hard Rock Cafe

The seats are empty but the grounds crew is busy painting and getting ready for the Wednesday night game..

Ryder meeting Yankee Mickey.

There was such a wonderful feeling of excitement around the stadium.  All the employees were busy scrubbing and polishing in anticipation of the game.

Let's Go Yankees!!!

1. Work on my two September blocks for the Quilt Square Quilt Along.

Blocks are complete.  I have done two blocks each month since January; one in a red scrappy colorway and one in a multi colored scrappy colorway.  Thanks Jo Kramer from Jo's Country Junction for hosting this quilt along.

2. Complete quilting the quilt that is currently loaded on Annie.

Here are a few of the quilted blocks.

Now on to the binding.....

3. Load and quilt my September quilt for Quilts for Kids.

Our quilts this month have a fall/Halloween theme.

4. Work on the English Paper Piecing project I started about five years ago.

This quilt/wall hanging measures 30" x 36".  It is made with 1930's repro fabric.  It is ready to be quilted.

5. Play with my little (or not so little)puppy, Brody.

Brody is now a little over 5 months old.  He is so much fun and he keeps us very busy!

The Week of October 1, 2012

1.  Start preparing for Christmas.  Yes, believe it or not, I start preparing for Christmas on October 1st.  I start shopping for non-perishables and making my famous  Hot Cocoa Mix that I give as gifts.  I also start asking for Christmas gift ideas from family.

2.  Attend Quilts for Kids at PQW.  I will turn in the quilt I made and start preparing another quilt...this time with a Christmas theme.

Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

This was a great weekend for all my sports teams.  Last week they all lost and this weekend they all won.  The WWPHS Pirate football team beat Princeton and the NY Mets swept the Miami Marlins at Citi Field.  The Trojans, the Jets and the Cowboys all won their respective football games.  The NY Yankees are holding on to a slim lead in the American League East.

Unfortunately for the NY Jets, they have lost Darrelle Revis, their star cornerback, for the season with a torn ACL.  He had just returned to the team after suffering a concussion a few weeks ago.  This is a terrible blow for the team.  Now everyone else on the team will have to step up.  The defense has to stop the run game and get off the field after third down.  Quite a tough task without Revis.

The Week Of September 17, 2012

(in review)

1.  Attend a Mets game at Citi Field.

We had terrific seats to watch the NY Mets play at Citi Field.

It was so much fun to go to a game with Kyle, Heather and Baby Ryder.

Although we have such fond memories of Shea Stadium (ever wonder why our daughter is named Shea?), Citi Field is a beautiful ballpark.

2.    Continue to work on Shea's gray, yellow and white quilt.  Shea's quilt is pieced and ready to be quilted.  Here is a sneak peek:

3.  Spend some time with my new embroidery machine learning how to use the embroidery unit.  I've spent about 5 hours playing with "Emmy."  I have only scratched the surface learning all the things I need to know, to use her to her full potential.  I embroidered a bib for Ryder.

4.  Work on my two September blocks for the Quilt Square Quilt Along.  I did not get to this.

5.  Work on an English Paper Piecing project I started about five years ago.  This is still a UFO.  This week maybe????

3.  Load and quilt my September quilt for Quilts for Kids.

We are working on quilts with a fall/Halloween theme.
