The Week of April 22, 2013
(in review)
1. Finish part 5 of Roll Roll Cotton Boll, a Bonnie Hunter mystery.
All 600 HST are done for part 5. PHEW!
All 600 HST are done for part 5. PHEW!
2. Complete part 2 of Heather Spence's Mystery Quilt to
Benefit Cancer patients.
The second clue required me to sew a light/background rectangle to each side of a light/background square. Very unusual! I can't wait to see where this goes.
3. Finish piecing the BRODY Project, "All Hand Dyes Go Together."
4. Gather sashing and border fabric to finish a quilt of blocks given to me by my DMIL a few years ago.
These are the fabrics I plan on using to finish these appliqued blocks. I'll have pictures of the blocks after I set them with the sashing and cornerstones.
5. Choose a pattern from the 2013 NJ Shop Hop to make.
I've decided to make the Pennington Quilt Works pattern called Hexagon Swirl, designed by Sue Hurley. I have not started it yet but I've gathered all the extra fabric I will need. The picture above is of the sample made by the designer.
6. Paper Piece the April block for my heart sampler.
This is the April block.
Here are the first four blocks. I'm trying to follow the colors suggested by the designer. I'm not sure that I agree completely with the suggestions. When all twelve blocks are complete I may have to go back and redo a few if the colors are a little off.
7. Make the April block for "Pieceful Nights" a quilt along with
Kelli and Jo Kramer.
8. Work on Clue #2 of Bonnie Hunter's Mystery found in
Quiltmaker magazine.
Here are many of the pieces cut and ready to be assembled.
These are pictures of some of the units I have pieced for this Bonnie Hunter mystery. This is definitely a colorful quilt...very spring like.
9. Prepare the BRODY Project, "In a Snap" for quilting.
I received the necessary backing fabric and pieced it to fit the back of this quilt top. I will now add it to the "Git-R-Done" list.
10. Continue to work on the BRODY Project, "Going Buggy."
Here are the blocks ready to be appliqued and cut in quarters.
This block has been appliqued and cut in quarters.
I've finished a few of the "light" blocks. I combined two quartered applique blocks with two 4-patches to make each block. To make this quilt I will need 32 light blocks and 32 dark blocks. The dark blocks are exactly the same only with the colors reversed.
11. Add 21 hexies to my Bonnie Hunter inspired Christmas Hexie Quilt.
12. Spend a day with dear, little Ryder.
The Week of April 29, 2013
This week my list is going to be a little different. In fact, I'm not going to make an actual list for the first time in over a year.
I have A LOT of things to do around my house that just need to get done. If you read last week's list above, you will see that I was very busy with my quilting and spending time with my DGS but that is about all that I did.
This week I am going to spend three days with Ryder and then work on some of those "must do's" around the house. When they are done I hope to be a bit more organized and a bit more productive.
If I do get a chance to work on some quilt projects (and I'm sure I will) I will be sure to post pictures next week. My hope is that if I put these "must do's" as a priority over my quilting this week I will be able to "get them behind me," as my Nan used to say.
Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!
