Make-A-List Monday May-June 2018

Playing "Catch-Up" is the name of the game lately.  I haven't posted a Make-A-List Monday since April 2nd.  Finding time to quilt has been difficult but my days have been filled with so many equally fun and rewarding activities.

The flowers were blooming in April and May...

 Beautiful!

The weather was very temperamental this spring.  This is a picture of the sky over Philadelphia that my son, JT, took from the deck of his house.

Spooky!

And speaking of JT...his Great Dane puppy, Thira, continues to grow at record speed.

My daughter-in law, Kaela, was accepted to a VERY prestigious hospital in Louisville, KY, for her hand surgery fellowship.

JT, Kaela, and her family celebrated her accomplishments when JT & Kaela traveled to San Jose to attend her brother and sister's high school graduation in May.  The fellowship will not begin until August 2019 as Kaela finishes her last year of residency.

My wonderful children gave me an amazing Mother's Day gift this year -
a Cricut Maker machine

I haven't had much time to play with it but I have made a few things.

I made these personalized cups for Logan's preschool teachers, Miss Linda & Miss Denise.

I am looking forward to many hours "cricutting" in the future.

Shea and I attended my cousin's bridal shower.  It was a lovely afternoon.

We can't wait to celebrate with Chris and Maura again in September at the wedding!

3.  A wedding quilt for a special daughter and future son-in-law.

Many hours were spent designing this quilt for 
Shea & Ricky. I started with the inspiration found in one of my quilting magazines.  I knew I would need to make changes to the original pattern in order to add the pieced border I had pictured in my mind.

I think it probably took me longer to design the quilt then it did to piece it!

Her initial request for "an all white quilt" was accomplished by putting a solid white backing on the quilt.  This way, if she decides she truly only wants white, she can just flip it over.

I pieced, quilted,

  and bound

for many days until the quilt was complete.

I used my Cricut to make a card

I found just the right basket to wrap the quilt in

and I was ready for her bridal shower.

Cargot Brasserie, a lovely French inspired restaurant, on the Princeton University campus, was the venue.  Sammi Beth & Maureen, Shea's Matrons-of Honor, and all the bridesmaids did an amazing job with decorations, games, favors and FUN.  They picked up on the French vibe of the restaurant and the Paris honeymoon destination.  The beautiful centerpieces were provided by Violet, Ricky's mom.

Awesome Adventures with Ryder, Logan, & Jace - April 2018

It's time to play "Catch-Up" with my Awesome Adventures posts.  I'm a few months behind so

 let's get started...

The BOYZ had fun playing in the "M Street Band."

I think they would have done this activity for an hour if I had let them.  Needless to say, I could only tolerate the banging for a few minutes.

Our sweet Jace got his first haircut in April.

Such a handsome and happy little guy!

Ryder and Logan had fun exploring some big rigs.

Ryder lost another front tooth...

and he had fun at our local school playground on the monkey bars.

Playing outside is our FAVORITE thing to do!

Heather and I took the BOYZ to Arm & Hammer Park, aka Waterfront Park, to watch Grandad's high school team play.  

Logan can make friends with anybody ... even a statue :)

T-Ball was a favorite thing to do in April.

Logan's first Little League team.  GO Hot Rods!

Jace is not on a team yet.  He was just happy to be outside.

We celebrated Kyle and JT's birthdays in April.

The BOYZ sent a heart felt rendition of Happy Birthday to their Uncle JT.

Our backyard tree was beautiful...even though it was still not very warm outside.

A Home Depot run is always more fun for daddy when he can take two of his apprentices with him.

Brotherly love...

Anxious to go swimming but the weather not cooperating, Ryder and Logan did the next best thing ...

A game of chase around the pool.

(or was it a fever?)

Little Jace continues to make us smile every day.

His favorite thing to do is play with any kind of ball outside.

Ryder had a VERY important request one day...

How could I say "no" to that face :)

We played outside EVERY chance we got.

Grandad had the pleasure of taking Ryder & Logan  to watch a Trenton Thunder game at Arm & Hammer Park and to cheer on one of their favorite minor leaguers - Ben Ruta. 

Ben is a former WWPHS varsity baseball player.  

Ryder loves his activity time each day when his little brothers nap.  

On this day, we did a science experiment and some language activities.

When Logan awoke, they took their paper and crayons outside to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.

Ryder and his kindergarten class

Take Your Child (Grandchild???) to Work Day gave Logan and Ryder a chance to go to school with Grandad.  The boys were a hit with the high school phys. ed. classes.

Here they are playing a little Lacrosse.

At the end of the month we celebrated Logan's 4th birthday, a few days early.

And so the month of April came to an end.  Lots of fun times spent with my three wonderful grandsons.  I couldn't think of a better way to spend my retirement days.
