Make-A-List Monday

The Week of August 12, 2013
(in review)

1.  Complete the August block for the PQW Saturday Sampler.

Here is the block that I made.  It is not due until September 13th.

It feels good to be done ahead of time.

2.  Finish quilting my Stonehenge quilt currently loaded on Annie and attach the binding.

My Stonehenge quilt has been quilted and the binding has been attached.

This is a picture of only part of this very large quilt.

I will include it in a future Show & Tell Tuesday post.

3.  Work on two Quilts for Kids quilts.

I actually had enough blocks to make 3 Quilts for Kids tops.

They are now ready to be quilted.

4.  Complete  lessons 1-8 for the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt-Along sponsored by the Quilting Gallery.

I am all up-to-date with this Quilt-Along.

The next step should be released on Thursday of this week.

5.  Attach labels to two quilts that have not yet been labeled.

The quilts have been labeled and Show & Tell posts have been prepared.

6.   Work on the following BRODY Projects:

Lazy Sunday
Blue Dresden Plate Quilt
Log Cabin Christmas Quilt
Tumalo Trail
Six Little Charmer II Table Runners
Christmas Charm Tree Skirt

I was able to do a little work on the Log Cabin Christmas Quilt and I was able to finish the Tumelo Trail top.

I have prepared a pieced backing and it has been added to my
 Git-R-Done! list.

7.  Work on hand piecing two blocks for Skill Builder Block of the Month
sponsored by Alyssa Lichner of Pile O' Fabric.

No progress this week.   :(

8.  Add some more hexies to my Bonnie Hunter inspired
Christmas Hexie Quilt.

I only added a few hexies this week.

9.  Work on a Crazy Eight quilt.

I made all my blocks for this quilt.
I will sew the blocks together as a BRODY Project.

10.  Work on a few blocks for a baby sampler.

When I pulled this project out I realized I had 60 four-inch blocks completed.

I decided to frame the blocks to make them all six-inches.

These blocks paired with some plain six-inch squares were enough to make four quilts.

I have not sewn them together yet.  I will add them to my BRODY Projects.

The Week of August 19, 2013

1.  Cut up a pile of scraps into my Scrap Users System.

2.  Make the next block for the Byrne Sewing Connection 2013
 $5 block quilt.

3.  Work on Lesson 9 for the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt-Along sponsored by The Quilting Gallery.

4.  Spend a day with little Ryder.

5.  Work on hand piecing two blocks for Skill Builder Block of the Month
sponsored by Alyssa Lichner of Pile O' Fabric.

I'm going to keep adding this to my list with the hope that one of these weeks I might actually get to it.

6.  Work on quilting the Byrne 2011 $5 Quilt - Batik Colorway and the three Quilts for Kids quilts that I pieced this past week on Annie.

7.  Work on the following BRODY Projects:

Lazy Sunday
Blue Dresden Plate Quilt
Log Cabin Christmas Quilt
Six Little Charmer II Table Runners
Christmas Charm Tree Skirt
Crazy Eight
Four Baby Sampler Quilts

8.  Attend Strip Club at The Village Quilter in Mt. Holly, NJ.

These are the strips we will use this month.

9.  Make a Charm Quilt for Ryder's new cousin, Kayden.

10.   Add some more hexies to my Bonnie Hunter inspired
Christmas Hexie Quilt.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Show & Tell Tuesday

Show & Tell Tuesday

I have two quilts to share today.

One was made from a pattern in a book and the other I sort of made up myself.

Spider Web

My Spider Web quilt pattern came from the book:

Day & Night Quilt

This book is readily available at many quilt shops or HERE at Barnes & Noble.

The pattern for the quilt I made can be found on page 68.

I completed Spiderweb in 2011 and it measures 55" X 72".

Grandmother's Medallion

I don't have a pattern for this quilt but it is made with 36 traditional quarter

Dresden plate blocks turned in different ways to make the desired pattern.

 I added three borders.

I purchased this fabric in Lancaster, PA in 2009

I used a muslin fabric on the back and I quilted it with blue thread.  If I could do this quilt over I would use an ecru thread.  I also notice that my tension was not great.  My quilting has certainly improved.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List Monday

The Week of August 5, 2013
(in review)

1.  Work on the next two blocks for the Pieceful Nights Quilt-A-Long sponsored by Jo's Country Junction.

2.  Prepare backing and binding for Jelly Beans.

Backing and binding prepared and quilt added to the Git-R-Done list.

3.  Prepare backing and binding for Keep It Simple.

Backing and binding prepared and quilt added to the Git-R-Done list.

4.  Prepare the Bonnie Hunter quilt Smith Mountain Morning as a Leader/Ender project.

I know this looks like a mess but it is actually very organized.  When I started this project in 2012 in a class at Quilt Odyssey I did not get very far.
My computerized sewing machine decided to die.  I was so disappointed that I haven't looked at the project in over a year.  Now it is all organized and it will be my next leader/ender project.

5.  Complete the 3rd block for the Pennington Quilt Works Saturday Sampler BOM and attend class later in the week.

This block is called Lillypads.  I was able to get the fabric I will need for my finishing kit.  I have decided to go rogue...very unusual for me.  I am going to do my own thing and not follow one of the finishing patterns offered by PQW.

6.  Prepare "Christmas Charm Tree Skirt" as a BRODY Project.

My DH and I have been married for 32 years and we have never had a Christmas tree skirt.  I have made some for other people but never for our family.  I am a little ashamed to admit that we just use a red tablecloth under our tree.  Now, if I get this project done in time we will have our first real Christmas tree skirt.

7.  Work on the July and August paper-pieced heart sampler blocks.

I love how these blocks turned out.  The July block looks like a flag and the August block looks like a slice of watermelon.

8.  Work on the following BRODY Projects:

Lazy Sunday
Blue Dresden Plate Quilt
Log Cabin Christmas Quilt
Tumalo Trail
Six Little Charmer II Table Runners
Christmas Charm Tree Skirt

I'm not sure what happened this week but I did not work on any of my BRODY Projects.

9.  Work on hand piecing two blocks for Skill Builder Block of the Month
sponsored by Alyssa Lichner of Pile O' Fabric.

I was only able to attach a few of the hexagons on one of the blocks.

10.  Attend the Quilts For Kids workshop at PQW and
the Zinsmeister Family 21st Reunion.

I was able to attend both of these events and had a great time.

Here are some pictures from the Q4K workshop.  I am still editing my family reunion pictures so I'm not sure when I will get to post them.

8.  Add some more hexies to my Bonnie Hunter inspired
Christmas Hexie Quilt.

I haven't worked on this project since the beginning of June.  I took a break to work on hand stitching some bindings.  Now it is time for me to start working on this project again.

9.  Work on a Crazy Eight quilt.

10.  Work on a few blocks for a baby sampler.

My DH, Don, has taken all of my Ryder Time the past few weeks so I've had a lot of time to sew.  That will end next week when his football practice starts again.  He has loved every second he's been able to spend with the little guy.  It's been wonderful watching their relationship grow.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Show & Tell Tuesday

Show & Tell Tuesday

I have two quilts to share today.  One of them was a Block of the Month and the other was made from a pattern in a book.

Crossroads

This BOM quilt was presented by Quilting Possibilities in Forked River, NJ.

Each piece came precut, something that I am not used to.

I think the shop must have used an Accuquilt Cutting System

It was designed on EQ6 by Deborah Welsh in 2009.

I completed my quilt in 2010 and it measures 92" X 92".

Double Irish Chain

I made my version of Double Irish Chain from fabric I purchased in
Lancaster, PA in 2009.

The pattern came from the book:

This book is available at Joanne's.

There are a total of 63 blocks and the final quilt measures 84" X 104".  I made a scrappy pieced backing with 10 1/2" squares.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List Monday

This has been a great week.  We were invited by my DDIL Heather to attend a
NY Mets vs. KC Royals game on Sunday.  My DS Kyle gets wonderful seats quite often from one of his clients.  We were so excited to go.

NY Mets vs. KC Royals
City Field
Flushing, NY
August 4, 2013

The weather was gorgeous.

The Mets lost a bunch of pop flies in the sun and eventually the game but we still had a great time.

Unfortunately Kyle was running an event at Yankee Stadium so he was unable to attend.  Ryder had a blast running up and down the aisles.  He enjoyed seeing Mr. Met again and visiting the Shea Bridge.  I'm sure his Auntie Shea wishes she could have gone with us.  He ate what seemed like a pound of fresh fruit and tasted his first hot dog.  Thank you, Heather, for taking the pictures and for a perfect day.

The Week of July 29, 2013
(in review)

1.  Work on the next two blocks for the Pieceful Nights Quilt-A-Long sponsored by Jo's Country Junction.

I did not do these blocks last week.  They will be on the top of my list again this week because they have to be done by Tuesday to share them at
Jo's Country Junction

2.  Continue to work on my Jelly Beans quilt pattern by
Blue Underground Studios..

I was able to finish the quilt top.

Jelly Beans

I love the way the top turned out.  I will be looking for a neutral batik for the backing.

3.  Prepare backing for Syncopated Rhythm.

Syncopated Rhythm has now been added to my Git-R-Done list.

4.  Finish quilting my ABC Quilt that is currently loaded on Annie.

Annie behaved perfectly this week.  I talked to Customer Service for HandiQuilter in Salt Lake City and we were able to diagnose the problem as electrical.  It seems that every time my AC came on it would cause Annie to stall.  It was sooooo hot the week she was misbehaving and our AC was running constantly.  It is good to know that it was an external problem and nothing with the machine itself.

5.  Work on the following BRODY Projects:

String of Pearls
Keep It Simple
Lazy Sunday
Blue Dresden Plate Quilt
Log Cabin Christmas Tree Quilt

I finished piecing two of my BRODY Projects.

String of Pearls

Keep It Simple

I received the final clue for the Lazy Sunday mystery.  Now I can work on that quilt and prepare a few more.

6.  Work on the July paper-pieced heart sampler block.

I did not get to this block.

7.  Celebrate my DH's birthday on Tuesday.

My DH Don spent his birthday with little Ryder so I didn't see him until dinner but it was still a very nice birthday indeed.

8.  Work on hand piecing two blocks for Skill Builder Block of the Month
sponsored by Alyssa Lichner of Pile O' Fabric.

I am making slow but steady progress on these blocks.

9.  Start working on a quilt called "Crazy Eights."

I did not get to start this quilt yet.

10.  Work on the next block for the PQW Saturday Sampler.

I did not get to this block.

The Week of August 5, 2013

1.  Work on the next two blocks for the Pieceful Nights Quilt-A-Long sponsored by Jo's Country Junction.

I have to work on these blocks first this week because I need to send pictures of them to Jo early in the week.

2.  Prepare backing and binding for Jelly Beans.

3.  Prepare backing and binding for Keep It Simple.

4.  Prepare the Bonnie Hunter quilt Smith Mountain Morning as a Leader/Ender project.

I started this project in 2012 at Quilt Odyssey.  Unfortunately half way through class my machine broke and I was unable to get much done.  Now that I have finished the blocks on my current L/E project (Tumalo Trail) I am ready to start another one.

5.  Complete the 3rd block for the Pennington Quilt Works Saturday Sampler BOM and attend class later in the week.

6.  Prepare "Christmas Charm Tree Skirt" as a BRODY Project.

7.  Work on the July and August paper-pieced heart sampler blocks.

8.  Work on the following BRODY Projects:

Lazy Sunday
Blue Dresden Plate Quilt
Log Cabin Christmas Quilt
Tumalo Trail
Six Little Charmer II Table Runners
Christmas Charm Tree Skirt

9.  Work on hand piecing two blocks for Skill Builder Block of the Month
sponsored by Alyssa Lichner of Pile O' Fabric.

10.  Attend the Quilts For Kids workshop at PQW and
the Zinsmeister  Family 21st Reunion.

I'm looking forward to a very full and happy week.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!
