Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

This was a great weekend for all my sports teams.  Last week they all lost and this weekend they all won.  The WWPHS Pirate football team beat Princeton and the NY Mets swept the Miami Marlins at Citi Field.  The Trojans, the Jets and the Cowboys all won their respective football games.  The NY Yankees are holding on to a slim lead in the American League East.

Unfortunately for the NY Jets, they have lost Darrelle Revis, their star cornerback, for the season with a torn ACL.  He had just returned to the team after suffering a concussion a few weeks ago.  This is a terrible blow for the team.  Now everyone else on the team will have to step up.  The defense has to stop the run game and get off the field after third down.  Quite a tough task without Revis.

The Week Of September 17, 2012

(in review)

1.  Attend a Mets game at Citi Field.

We had terrific seats to watch the NY Mets play at Citi Field.

It was so much fun to go to a game with Kyle, Heather and Baby Ryder.

Although we have such fond memories of Shea Stadium (ever wonder why our daughter is named Shea?), Citi Field is a beautiful ballpark.

2.    Continue to work on Shea's gray, yellow and white quilt.  Shea's quilt is pieced and ready to be quilted.  Here is a sneak peek:

3.  Spend some time with my new embroidery machine learning how to use the embroidery unit.  I've spent about 5 hours playing with "Emmy."  I have only scratched the surface learning all the things I need to know, to use her to her full potential.  I embroidered a bib for Ryder.

4.  Work on my two September blocks for the Quilt Square Quilt Along.  I did not get to this.

5.  Work on an English Paper Piecing project I started about five years ago.  This is still a UFO.  This week maybe????

The Week of September 24, 2012

1.  Work on my two September blocks for the Quilt Square Quilt Along.  These blocks are due this coming weekend so I had better get busy!

3.  Load and quilt my September quilt for Quilts for Kids.

We are working on quilts with a fall/Halloween theme.

4.  Work on the English Paper Piecing project I started about five years ago.
Hopefully I will have time to work on this project.

5.  Play with my little (or not so little)puppy, Brody.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Show & Tell Tuesday

Show & Tell Tuesday

I have two quilts to share today.  These are quilts that I have given to my daughter, Shea.

This is a Moda Bakeshop quilt pattern by Roslyn Mirrington of Bloom and Blossom.

This quilt consists of 24 blocks measuring 10" each.

The completed quilt measures 66" x 90".

The "official" name for this quilt is Sultry Jelly Roll but it is a braided quilt so I call it BRAID.  The Pattern is also from Moda Bake Shop.  I used a Moda Jelly Roll called Breakfast at Tiffany's by Fig Tree Quilts

The finished quilt size is 65" x 70" and it requires only one Jelly Roll.

These quilts were birthday gifts for Shea.  I am currently working on another quilt for Shea that will match the color scheme in her new room.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

We had a wonderful time at the wedding this weekend.  The weather was perfect and the venue was amazing.  It was a great time with family and special friends!

Unfortunately my sports teams went 0 for the weekend.  The WWPHS Pirate football team lost, the Trojans lost, the Mets lost, the Jets lost and the Cowboys lost.  UGH!!!  Hopefully this week will bring some wins.

The Week of September 10, 2012
(in review)

1.  Work on some Dear Jane blocks.  I was able to finish eight blocks and two triangles.

My current numbers are:

 160 out of 169 blocks
    40 out of 52 triangles
0 out of 4 corners
4,244 out of ? pieces

The end is in sight.  I say that even though I am still probably about a year away from completing this incredible quilt journey.

2.  Finish 4 more Craftsy Block of the Month blocks.

I am now all caught up with this BOM.  October should bring some paper-piecing blocks.

3.  Start Shea's gray, yellow and white quilt.

I am currently working on Shea's quilt.  Here is a picture of two of the 35 blocks.

4.  Attend the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza XIX in Oaks, PA.

Here are a few pictures from my day at the Extravaganza.  The quilts were gorgeous.  Hopefully I will be able to share some of the pictures of the quilts in a future Wordless Wednesday.

5.  Attend my friend's, Ali and Tim, wedding in Philadelphia, PA.

The Catholic ceremony was held in St. Philip Neri Church on Queen Street.

The bride and groom were gorgeous and soooo in love.

The bean bags were a hit at the outdoor cocktail hour at the Philadelphia Horticulture Center.

Best wishes to the bride and groom!

6.  Load a quilt on Annie and begin quilting it.  I have loaded a quilt and will try to work on it a little each day.

The Week of September 17, 2012

1.  Attend a Mets game at Citi Field.

This is a picture from our first trip to Citi Field.

My son Kyle has tickets to the Mets/Phillies game tonight.  We will sit in the sixth row behind home plate.  We have been fortunate to get really good seats to a lot of the baseball games, football games and concerts we attend.  My son's job with the New York Yankees comes with lots of perks that he shares with us.

 Let's Go METS!!!

2.    Continue to work on Shea's gray, yellow and white quilt.  Everything is cut out for this quilt.  Now I just have to piece and quilt it.

3.  Spend some time with my new embroidery machine learning how to use the embroidery unit.

4.  Work on my two September blocks for the Quilt Square Quilt Along.

5.  Work on an English Paper Piecing project I started about five years ago.  This is the ultimate UFO.  It has been on the back burner for a while now and it is time to pull it out and finish it.

Until Next Time...Happy Stitching

Make-A-List Monday

Make-A-List Monday

The Week of September 3, 2012
(in review)

In honor of the USC Trojans, I will make my To Do list using the colors of Cardinal and Gold.

1.  Attend the Syracuse vs. USC  football game at MetLife Stadium.

TROJANS WIN!!!

What a GREAT day this was.  We arrived at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ early and were serenaded by the The Syracuse Orange marching band.

We were also greeted by this great graphic on the video board.

We got to watch the teams warm-up,

and storm the field.

The coin flip...

For some reason I had about 50 pictures of my favorite player, quarterback Matt Barkley.

Some of the marching band members and USC Song Girls made the trip to the east coast.

Even Tommy Trojan made the trip...but not Traveler, the noble, white horse that Tommy rides at all home games.

This is a picture of the statue of Traveler I took last summer when I was on campus.

We suffered through a 70 minute delay during halftime for inclement weather but it did not dampen the spirit of the thousands of Trojan fans in attendance.  In fact, by my estimation there were far more Cardinal and Gold fans than Orange fans.  I hope the next time I get to see USC play, it will be in the Coliseum.

2.  Work on some of the Craftsy Blocks of the Month that I have missed.

I was able to finish four blocks.

I would have done more but I need to get a few specialty rulers.

3.  Attend Quilts for Kids at PQW. This month we are working on quilts with a fall/Halloween theme.

4.  Complete the Binding on Kathy's Memory Quilt.

Kathy's quilt is complete and delivered.  Here are a few pictures.

Happy Birthday Little Zoe`!!

5.  Attend PQW Saturday Sampler class.   Class was held outside this month which was a surprise.

6.  Get my dryer repaired.  Still no dryer.  We have been without a dryer since August 13th.  The repairman is coming back today with another part. I think he is rebuilding my dryer one part at a time.  Hopefully this time it will work.

7.  Make the bean bags for the wedding on September 15th.

Twenty-four gold, orange and white bean-bags complete.

8.  Make some potholders for Shea.

Shea chose the fabric and I used a pattern from Riley Blake Designs.  Bring on the chocolate chip cookies!!

9.  Try once again to start Shea's Gray, Yellow and White quilt.  I still haven't begun this project.  I was all set to go but I was unable to pre-wash the fabric so this is still on hold.

The Week of September 10, 2012

1.  Work on some Dear Jane blocks.

2.  Finish 4 more Craftsy Block of the Month blocks.

3.  Start Shea's gray, yellow and white quilt.

4.  Attend the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza XIX in Oaks, PA.

5.  Attend my friend's, Ali and Tim, wedding in Philadelphia, PA.

6.  Load a quilt on Annie and begin quilting it.

That is all I am going to plan for this week.  If I can finally get started on Shea's quilt, that will take a lot of my time.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!
