Make-A-List-Monday ~ April/May 2021

APRIL was a month filled with so many wonderful things.

My husband, Don, and I were able to travel to Hoboken to visit our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.

We were on our way to receive our second Covid 19 vaccine in Wayne, NJ.

We are so thankful to now be able to travel to Portland, OR to meet our 5th grandson, Caleb. <3

Not so fast...

It was just about this time that I learned I would need rotator cuff repair surgery on my dominate side, from an accident I had a while ago when I fell down our steps.  If you know anything about this surgery, you know that it is a long and not easy recovery.  Portland trip is once again put on hold.

As I type this (one handed) I am two weeks post-op.  I am feeling better every day.  Sleeping is still tough (in a recliner) but the pain is now mostly a dull to semi-sharp ache.  I will be in the immobilizer sling for at least 4 more weeks. UGH! I start PT on Thursday.

I am blessed to have a wonderful live-in nurse who even makes me s'mores!

I got new furniture for my Studio...

Thankfully my resident nurse/handyman was able to take these 1,000,000 pieces and put them together to build my sewing table and cutting table.

Before my surgery we were blessed to be able to celebrate Sweet Luca's christening.

God Bless this precious child!

My wonderful sons, Kyle & JT, celebrated their birthdays this month, as well.  I love you both so BIG!

When I heard of my impending surgery, I quickly got to work on my LIST.  I knew I would be unable to do many LIST items for a while after my surgery, so I wanted to get as much done as I could, while I could.

April 2021
(in review)

1.  Garden Party L/E
I started to add the side pieces to my 3 1/2" nine patches.

2.  Pennington Quiltworks Saturday Sampler from 2014/15

A few hour-glass and flying geese blocks.

3.  Quilts for Kids
I was able to send 3 quilts to our QFK gathering with my friend, Anne.
Here is one of the three that I contributed to the 82 we collected for needy children.

4.  Baby quilt for little Luca and little Caleb

It's about time these two little guys finally got their quilts.

I Love you both so VERY big!

5.  The Patchwork Quilt Along by The Fat Quarter Shop

Six more blocks complete.

6.  One Hundred Eighty-Two Day Solstice
This is Block #25.  I will start to put my Halloween quilt together, as soon as my shoulder recovery allows.

7.  Basketweave

Twelve more blocks complete.

8.  Dancing Stars

When I heard of my upcoming surgery, I knew I wanted to make a dent in the 29 blocks I still needed to make for this quilt. I was unable to complete any of the blocks, but I was able to complete all the paper piecing that was necessary for these blocks.
Then I cut up all my leftover fabric into 2 1/2" squares.

9.  Quilt "Toes in the Sand" by JayBird Quilts

I have this quilt loaded, but I have not been able to do the quilting yet.

10.  Diamond Painting

No Diamond Painting progress. :(

11.  Cross Stitch

I was only able to complete 11,639 stitches before my April 19th surgery. I worked on these nine projects.

That's it for now.  Hopefully I will be back at the end of May or the beginning of June with an update of projects I worked on during the month.  I make no promises...I may have to skip a month or two so I can recover enough to get some things done.
