Make-A-List Monday

The Week of October 21, 2013
(in review)

1.  Finish the October Stash Club quilt top - Mexican Cross -
a UFO from about two years ago.

I made 30 blocks that looked like these:

I decided to sash these blocks with a 2" strip of Kona Buttercup and white cornerstones.

I used a blue fabric as the border and the same blue fabric as the backing.  This quilt top has been added to the Git-R-Done list.

2.  Prepare a backing and binding for the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt
 sponsored by The Quilting Gallery.

I found a pretty pale yellow fabric for this quilt's backing.  It has been added to the Git-R-Done list.

3.   Work on a baby quilt from the book Simply Chenille Baby Quilts

This is how the chenille baby quilt top looks now.  I'm trying to decide if I want to use more chenille as an outer border.

Here is a close-up of the chenille fabric.

4.  Begin working on Wildflower Rhapsody...a quilt kit I purchased in Arizona a few years ago.

This is how Wildflower Rhapsody will look when I am done piecing all of the blocks.

Wildflower Rhapsody Quilt Pattern

So far I was able two finish two blocks:

These 12 1/2" unfinished blocks can be found on the left side of the quilt.

5.  Catch up on all of the paper-pieced blocks from Lucky Stars sponsored by Elizabeth Dackson of Don't Call Me Betsy.

Well I didn't catch up on all of the paper-pieced blocks but I was able to finish two of them:

The larger block measures 12 1/2" unfinished
and the smaller block measures 6 1/2" unfinished.

6.  Work on some blocks for my 501 Scrap Block Sampler.

I did not get to work on this project.

7.  Work on Back to Square One Medallion Mystery offered by Judy Laquidara of Patchwork Times.

8.  Spend a day with little Ryder and my 28 year old son, JT.

JT, Ryder and I had a great day together.

We played around the house and then we went to the park for a picnic and play.  The weather was wonderful for late October and we took advantage of the beautiful day.

Taylor's Timeless Quilt is quilted  and I was also able to finish the quilting on all three Quilts for Kids quilts and the Sausalito bag.

This is how the finished quilt will look:

14.  Celebrate my "29th" birthday with my family.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this balloon on my mailbox first thing in the morning.  Thank you DD Shea.

Make-A-List Monday

A Little Detour...

I took a little detour from my list this week to make a special present for my favorite little pumpkin.

This is Ryder's second Halloween but the first that he will dress in costume and go Trick-or-Treating.

I wanted to make a little treat bag for him to carry.

Here is the bag that I made for him:

I pulled out my embroidery attachment to make the appliques.  The bag measures approximately 13" x 13".

I hope he likes it!!!

The Week of October 7, 2013
(in review)

1.  Work on Lesson 16 & 17 for the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt-Along
 sponsored by The Quilting Gallery.

This quilt top is now complete and I love it.

The finished top measures 58 1/2" X 82 1/2".

Michele Foster - the designer - will have the pattern available for purchase at the end of the month.

If you are interested, visit her website, The Quilting Gallery, at the end of October.  I'm not sure of the exact date so you will have to keep checking.

My next step will be to find an appropriate backing fabric.

On a side note...each week the participants of the quilt along submit pictures of each step as it is completed.  All submitted pictures are eligible for a prize.  I found out today that my quilt top won a prize.  I'm so excited.  I'm not sure what I have won but it doesn't really matter.  Yay Me!!  haha!

2.  Work on the quilt currently loaded on Annie - Taylor's Timeless Quilt.

I was able to finish about half of the quilting on this quilt.  I am picking up the roses in the fabric and quilting roses, swirls and leaves in an overall pattern.

3.  Trim and bind the June 2011 Strip Club Quilt and the two table runners I just finished quilting on Annie.

I bound both table runners and the quilt.  Now the bindings will have to be hand tacked.

Is there a binding fairy out there somewhere???

4.  Work on the following BRODY Projects:

Blue Dresden Plate Quilt
*Four-Patch Stacked Posies...Small Print
Four-Patch Stacked Posies...Large Print
Slice Twice - Isn't That Nice
*Blue Palace
*Meadow - A Christmas Quilt
Jungle Fever
Civil War Tribute
Aunt Josephine's Pride Mini Quilt
Two Flag of Valor Quilts

I was able to work on three BRODY Projects this week.  I did a little work on Four-Patch Stacked Posies...Small Print and Blue Palace. I finished three blocks for the "Meadow" quilt.

This is one of the three blocks that I finished.  There will be a total of nine blocks...five similar to this one and four of another pattern.
Each block will finish at 14" X 14".

5.  Finish piecing three Quilts for Kids quilt tops and add them to my Git-R-Done List.

These three tops are done.  I will quilt them as soon as I finish the quilt currently loaded on Annie.

6.  Spend a day with my DGS, Ryder.

Ryder loves his Freddie Frog sand box.
My DH and I gave it to him for his first birthday.

7.  Attend Saturday Sampler class at Pennington Quilt Works.

I attended class and now I have the next block to do.  It has 36 HST.

8.  Add some more hexies to my Bonnie Hunter inspired
 Christmas Hexie Quilt.

No progress this week.

9.   Work on the first  two clues for the
Heather Spence of Heather Spence Designs.

The first clue was just to cut patches.  The second clue required some sewing.

To make these units I used the Stitch-and-Flip method.
The next clue will come out on Friday.

10.  Work on eight blocks for the Sugar Block Club sponsored by Amy Gibson of Stitchery Dickory Dock.

I am now all caught up on this Quilt Along.

I love how vibrant the blocks look against the white background.

11.  Attend the Prayer Shawl Ministry at St. David the King Church.

This is the pattern and yarn I have chosen to use.  I'm enjoying this project and it is for a good cause.  It has been awhile since I picked up a crochet hook.

12.  Make a Sausalito Bag.

These are the panels that I have pieced for the outside of the bag.  I will quilt them as soon as I finish the three Quilts for Kids.  I was able to finish the lining with pockets and the handles.  As soon as the quilting is done I will put the bag together.

I was able to get so many things done this past week.  Let's see what I have on my list this week...
