Make-A-List Monday / February 2017

Great things are happening around Quilty Pleasures!  I finally have my quilting studio up and running.  Thank you so much to my wonderful husband who worked so hard tearing up carpet, refinishing wood floors, painting and moving tons of stuff up and down stairs. And thanks to his little helpers,
Logan and Ryder!

I am finally back to indulging in my Quilty Pleasures.

This is the view from the door when it was almost done.  I don't think I had the foot mat or the valances yet in this picture.  This room used to belong to my Dear Son, JT, when he lived at home.  The quilts piled under the shelving are quilted, they are just waiting to have the binding hand stitched to the back.  I work on my hand stitching at night.

This is the sewing table that my Dear Hubby made for me.  It is 2' x 4'!  That is my Ikea light and my antique iron that I use when I am quilting.

My Hubby got this Anti-Fatigue Mat for me.  It is on the floor between my ironing table and my cutting table.  It is 3'x5'.

Because of my new studio, I have been able to get lots of blocks, one quilt top & three Quilts for Kids quilts completed during the month of January.

January
(in review)

NO progress on green highlighted projects

1.  Piece, quilt, bind and label at least one "Quilts for Kids" quilt.  Attend the Quilts for Kids workshop at Pennington Quilt Works.

My Quilts for Kids group made all these quilts for the January workshop.  So far we have donated 1308 quilts to needy children.

These are the three that I finished this month.

2.  Work on the 2016 Saturday Sampler blocks I missed when I was unable to quilt.  Finish the quilt top.

Quilt top complete!

3.  Christmas Tree Skirt for Shea & Ricky

The tree skirt is done, all but the hand sewing.  I'll post pictures at a later date.

4.  Two Valances for my sewing studio

I made valances from a $50 curtain I got at Bed Bath and Beyond.  The curtain was on sale in clearance for $5!  And I got 20% off.  So I got two valances for a little over $4!
BOOM!

 5.  Bonnie Hunter's new mystery quilt:  En Provence

Clue #1 - Neutral 4-patches

6.  A few blocks from The Quilt Block Cookbook by Amy Gibson

I'm still trying to decide on a color scheme for this quilt so I have not started it.

Two blocks done.  Four more to go and then I will be ready to put it all together.

Awesome Adventures with Ryder & Logan December 2016

PLAY

WOW!  This sums up my teaching philosophy in a few short words.

PLAY is how children learn.  It is how they learn to love learning.  Flash cards, worksheets, educational apps - Totally Unnecessary.

As my beautiful grand children embark on this thing we call life, I am proud to say that I let them play as much as possible - and the messier the better.

Here are a few pictures of the ways we have played during the month of December 2016:

Chuck E Cheese was a great place to visit.

Visiting Santa is always fun!

Great gingerbread house, Ryder!

We made a few more recipes from the Disney Princess Cookbook...
Toasted Oatmeal Ice Cream

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo Magic Wands

Lots to do at the library:

The boys love to play at the high school gym.

Logan can have fun just about anywhere!

And Ryder is no stranger to fun...

Celebrating Christmas was a blast...

Especially playing Pie Face!

While Daddy painted their new house:

Ryder and Logan helped to paint Mimi's new sewing studio:

A bath is definitely necessary after all that painting!

Ryder and Logan loved celebrating Aunt Shea and Uncle Ricky's engagement.

Always remember...

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!
