Show & Tell Tuesday - Back to Nature & Berrylicious

Show & Tell Tuesday

I have two quilts to share today.

Back to Nature

Quilting by the Bay offered Back to Nature as a Block of the Month in 2010.  I fell in love with the beautiful batik fabrics and I knew I wanted to make this quilt,

This quilt was designed by Wing and a Prayer Designs.

I completed Back to Nature in 2011 and it measures 96" X 106".

Berrylicious

I made Berrylicious from a pattern I purchased at The Village Quilter in Mt Holly, NJ.

The store sample showed the pattern done in a lot of scrappy batiks, but I decided to do mine with yardage.

I completed my quilt in 2011 and it measures 61" X 78".

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Show & Tell Tuesday - A Bunch of 4 Patch Quilts

Show & Tell Tuesday

A Bunch of Four Patch Quilts

I have been making Four Patch Quilts for a long time.  This is an easy, go-to pattern that I use for baby and children quilts.  I have made many of these quilts over the years.  Here are just a few of them.

I hope you enjoyed viewing these Four Patch quilts from my collection.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Show & Tell Tuesday - Autumn Chevron & Sweater Weather

Show & Tell Tuesday

I have two quilts to share today.

Autumn Chevron

I made Autumn Chevron in 2009.  The chevrons are made with HST's.
Each row of chevrons is made from the same fabric but I made the background fabric scrappy.

The finished quilt measures 54" X 78"

Sweater Weather
Sweater Weather is one of my favorite quilts.  I made it from a pattern by Heartspun Charms but I added the pieced border.

I made this 44" square quilt in 2011.  I most often display it as a table topper on my dining room table.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these two quilts from my collection.

Until Next Time.....Happy Stitching!!!

Make-A-List-Monday October/November

What an exciting and busy month it has been!

First of all, my beloved New York Mets won the National League Pennant and made it into the World Series.

Although they did not win the World Series, they were able to win one game.  They received so much valuable experience to build on for next year.

 They were definitely:

Another exciting bit of news is that I now own a new long-arm quilting machine.  My first long-arm, Annie, needed extensive repairs and we determined it was not worth the expense to fix her.

Now I own a HandiQuilter Avantè named Ava!  I am happily quilting again.

Here are some of her first stitches...on a QFK quilt:

My wonderful son, JT, and his fiancée, Kaela, purchased a home a few weeks ago.
I wish them much love and happiness in their new home!

The last bit of news I have is not good.  My son, JT, broke his clavicle on Halloween playing football in front of his new house.  JT has been playing football since he was eight years old.  He has suffered a variety of injuries over the years, including another broken clavicle when he was 14.  He reduced this injury himself somehow, instead of going immediately to the ER.

Kaela, an orthopedic surgeon, was just finishing a rotation in Baltimore so was not available.  When she got back to the city on Sunday, she insisted he go to get it checked.  After x-rays and a CT scan they are still undecided if he needs surgery.  He will see one of Kaela's colleagues in the next few days to make that decision.  Now he must just keep his arm/shoulder immobilized in a sling.  He thinks it is funny to say he has a "Tony Romo injury."  Please keep him in your prayers for a quick and relatively comfortable recovery.

Now, on to my list:

It was so much fun going to Ryder's preschool.

I showed the children some of the smaller quilts I have made:

I read a book to the class called Just a Quilt by Dalen Keys.  Then Ryder presented his teacher with an autographed copy to keep in the classroom.

The children colored "quilt squares" and made a paper quilt.
